Our Contractor Onboarding Process
At Instabid HomePros, we are dedicated to providing exceptional quality and peace of mind to every client. To achieve this, we have established a comprehensive onboarding process that ensures every contractor we work with meets our high standards. Here’s a closer look at how we select and onboard new contractors:
1. License and Certification Verification
Each contractor must possess all necessary licenses and certifications for their trade. We verify credentials to ensure that every professional on our team is fully qualified to perform work safely, legally, and to the highest industry standards.
2. Insurance Requirements
To protect our clients, we require every contractor to hold valid insurance, including general liability and workers' compensation where required. This ensures that any unexpected situations are covered, giving you peace of mind throughout your project.
3. Rigorous Screening and Background Checks
Our contractors undergo thorough background checks to verify their history, expertise, and professionalism. This screening process is designed to bring you dependable, trustworthy contractors who consistently deliver high-quality work.
We use a trusted third-party vendor to conduct background checks on contractors before they join our network. This includes a criminal records search in the county where the business owner or principal operates. Our vendor utilizes a national criminal database (NCD) to help ensure the safety and trustworthiness of service professionals on our platform.
-
Eligibility Requirements: Business owners or principals with felony arrests that are pending a decision or with felony convictions within the last 7 years are not eligible for our network.
-
Serious Offenses: Individuals with any past charges or convictions for offenses involving rape, incest, sexual misconduct, or lewd behavior are permanently excluded from our network, regardless of whether these were felonies or misdemeanors, and even if charges were ultimately dismissed.
Our background check policy primarily screens out professionals based on felony convictions. Misdemeanor charges or dismissals typically do not affect admission, unless they relate to the serious offenses listed above. Contractors may be subject to re-screening if a concern is reported after they are admitted to the Instabid HomePros network.
4. Skills Assessment and Trial Period
Every contractor we consider goes through a skills assessment and a trial period, allowing us to evaluate their craftsmanship, work ethic, and attention to detail firsthand. Only those who meet our high standards are invited to become long-term partners.
5. Ongoing Quality Reviews
Once onboarded, our contractors participate in regular quality assessments. We monitor feedback, conduct site visits, and evaluate performance to ensure they consistently meet our high standards over time.
We believe our clients deserve the very best, and this rigorous onboarding process is one of the many ways we work to deliver on that promise. When you work with us, you’re not just hiring contractors—you’re gaining a team committed to excellence at every step.
